Now, Corning is continuing the “Evolution of Easy'' by taking this cable technology even further. We’re pleased to announce the launch of our first armored cable utilizing FastAccess Technology and thin film core protection: ALTOS Lite Loose Tube Cables with FastAccess Technology. The overall cable design is similar to the dielectric version and gives you many of the same benefits. The major change is that we have eliminated the use of a ripcord to access the jacket and armor. Customers can use the FastAccess feature to remove the cable jacket and then simply pull the cable through the armor to access the cable core. This is possible because of the new thin film protection around the cable core that prevents any damage as the core is pulled through the armor. Then, easily remove the thin film with an easy-to-access ripcord. By utilizing this new access process, you can reduce cable access times by up to 60% with a less risky process that involves no sharp tools. As with the dielectric version, the waterblocking tape has been removed and replaced with equally effective waterblocking powder.
